MMP - Channels

Communication channels are technologies used to send and receive information. MMP supports the following communication channels:

Short Message Service (SMS) – common and widely used, SMS messages are used to send and recieve short snippets of information. MMP supports PUSH[ing] content to users and PULL[ing] of content by users. Look at some applications.

Interactive Voice Response (IVR) is automated telephone service. This communication channel's provides access to services and information through automated voice prompts in any language.

Web Services – Perhaps a little more technical, MMP also interfaces with remote applications on the internet. If for example, you wanted to connect your core banking system to a telephone banking service, a web service might serve as the integration layer between MMP and the backend core banking services.

Email – like SMS, email can be used to both PUSH and PULL information from any datasource or application. Of course, email allows for longer messages to be sent and received.

GPRS – is a mobile data transfer technology available on 2G - 3G networks. One of the main differences from SMS is that per packet of information it is often much cheaper and faster.
